Divine Love: Sacred North India with Andrew Harvey
A Pilgrimage to the Artistic, Historical, and Spiritual Soul of North India
February 13-27, 2020
I am overjoyed to invite you to join me on a pilgrimage of Northern India on the Path to Divine Love. Although I was born in south India, I spent most of my childhood in the north, in Delhi, and it was there that I first awoke to the magic of India and became saturated in, and permanently changed by, its sacred atmosphere. Each of the places we are going to visit has a profound personal resonance for me, one enriched and expanded by four decades of constant return. It will be an honour to share with you the many-coursed feast of artistic and spiritual beauty this trip so sumptuously lays out. Please join me!
The Sacred Heart of Sri Lanka with Andrew Harvey
Pilgrimage to the Healing Depths of Buddhist Traditions, Meditation and Art
March 1 – 12, 2020
I am thrilled and honoured to invite you on one of the richest and most inspiring pilgrimages you could make in the world today – a pilgrimage into the sacred heart of Sri Lanka, and into the healing depths of its traditions, of Buddhist meditation and art and Ayurvedic healing. Sri Lanka, for all the turbulence of its recent history, remains not only one of the most sheerly – even surreally – beautiful places on earth, but also one of the most authentically magical, a place where the refined and exalted vision of both Buddhism, and to a lesser extent Hinduism, has created a sacred culture of great beauty which is still vibrant and alive. Please join me!
After authoring more than 30 books, Andrew Harvey, Rumi scholar, mystic, and founder of Sacred Activism, is releasing what may be his consummate work, Turn Me To Gold: 108 Poems By Kabir. Born in India and deeply influenced by its mystic traditions, Andrew became enraptured not only with the exquisite spiritual illumination he discovered in Kabir, but the poet’s grounding relevance to our troubled times. “Unlike Rumi,” writes Harvey, “Kabir is the tough, no-nonsense peasant who makes things real and bladed and right without any adornment. He is the master of laser-like clarity, simplicity, directness, passion and strength, and this laser-like purity and refusal to buy into any kind of illusion is exactly what spiritual seekers need amid our devastating global crisis.”
Mere consciousness is not enough, says Harvey. Written in the form of a symphony of four movements, Turn Me To Gold is both beautiful and blazing. The origin of the title Turn Me To Gold is a statement by Kabir that one drop of Divine love can turn you to gold. What Andrew and Kabir mean by “gold” is someone who is fully embodied—not just inspired in the mind but who experiences God in the body, in the cells. The birth that is trying to take place on our planet, Harvey insists, is not one of people just becoming conscious of the Divine, but who have integrated and embodied the Divine. Kabir then, is the supreme guide for allowing ourselves to be “turned to gold.”
Embellished by extraordinary, edgy photographs by Brett Hurd, illustrating the Divinity of ordinary life, this book reveals our capacity to be turned to gold if we are willing to reject the madness of all fundamentalisms and engage in the arduous work of transformation. It compels us to move beyond mere mystical ecstasy into the death and rebirth that joyously await us on the journey.
Namibia with Andrew Harvey in 2019 – JOIN US!
I want to invite you personally, on what I believe will be the soul adventure of a lifetime- a pilgrimage into the wild primordial heart of Namibia. Namibia has been for me, a major revelation in my life. I knew that it would be when I first started looking at a book of photographs of the Namib desert in Johannesburg Airport. Something happened in that crowded bookshop that awoke a thirst I did not know I had for wilderness, for emptiness, for the great luminous silences of rock and in the months that followed I circled Namibia in reading piles of books, in dreams and in a sense of growing awe. I knew I had to go myself, alone, and so I went last Christmas for 10 days of revelation on every level.
